About Me

I will admit it...I am obsessed with cooking and baking.  Obsessed.  If there were a support group for people obsessed with the kitchen, I would probably need to join.

I am not sure exactly how it all started, but I think it began when my sister and I got our first apartment together during my junior year of college.  I finally had a space to cook something other than microwave food, which had become the norm for me during my two years in the dorms at college.  There was even a stove in our new abode!  We started cooking together whenever we were home at the same time (which turned out to be not very often).  It started out with super, super simple things...like frozen ravioli, for instance.  We eventually became more daring in our cooking efforts.  From there, my love of cookbooks, recipes, and experimenting in the kitchen grew tremendously.

I can spend hours looking at recipes online in hopes of finding the "perfect" recipe (ask my former roommate, Lauren).  I love having people to share my creations with.  I often call them my "guinea pigs."  My dad claims he has never eaten as well as he has this past year when I have cooked at least a couple of times a week for him.  He's started to make a list of things that I've cooked for him so that when I'm not cooking for him so often he can remember what he liked.

I've been meaning to start a blog about my baking and cooking adventures for quite awhile now.  It turns out starting this blog was a more tedious task than I though it would be.  I'm excited to be able to share my successes (and failures) with you all though!  This also means I will need to learn to use the camera that Santa brought me...sorry, Santa, I didn't mean to wait this long to learn to use it :-)

I hope some of you will try out some of the recipes I post!  Don't worry if you're not an experienced cook.  I tend to gravitate towards simple, non-intimidating recipes.  If it takes me 10 minutes to read the recipe, it is surely going to take me to long to make it!  Have fun...I know I do!
